Types of Accommodation

The Home offers three types of accommodation - basic, semi-private and private (click each of the blue names to view respective floorplans).  Basic accommodation is two people on either side of a single entrance who share a washroom.  A Semi-private room is two bedrooms on either side of a shared washroom each with a private entrance.  Semi-private rooms also come with a personal safe and cable t.v service at no extra charge.  A Private room has only one bed and a private washroom and entrance.  Private accommodation also includes at no charge an Armoire with a lock, cable t.v, basic phone service and a combination t.v/VCR/dvd combo.  In all types of accommodation those residents that have telephone service must bring their own telephones.

Lack of funds will never prevent a person from being admitted to the Davey Home.  Based upon completion of a Rate Reduction Application, Government funds are made available to pay for the portion of the cost that the resident cannot pay. This application is completed by the Business Office upon your request.  If you are requesting a rate reduction, you will need to provide the Davey Home with your previous years Notice of Assessment from Revenue Canada (Income Tax Summary).  Completion of this application must be repeated each year.

The F.J. Davey Home endeavors to make suitable placement when residents are sharing facilities with others.  However, the Home cannot guarantee that each placement will meet every specification requested by each resident.  The Home is responsible for the safety, health, comfort and general welfare of all of its residents and is committed to providing a safe work environment for its staff; therefore the Home may, at any time, and at its sole discretion, determine the room accommodation for each resident.

Payment Options

Three options are available to all residents and are discussed with Resident Financial Services upon admission.  They are as follows:

Option 1:

The resident may choose to have all income cheques addressed to the Home.  Upon receipt of the cheques the monthly accommodation costs are paid and the balance of the funds are deposited in a personal trust account to be used by the resident to offset expenditures for personal items and for pocket money.  All funds are deposited at a chartered bank and receive the current rate of interest which is applied to each resident’s account on a monthly basis.

When a resident leaves the Home the balance of these funds are returned to him/her.  If a resident dies the funds are paid to the estate.

Option 2:

The resident or authorized representative may decide to accept responsibility for the amount of maintenance.  A monthly invoice will be issued for maintenance costs.  Payment may be made at the Reception Desk weekdays between 12:00p.m and 4:00p.m,  by mail or by deposit in the drop box provided.

 Option 3

The resident or authorized representative may choose automatic bank withdrawal to cover the monthly maintenance costs.  Withdrawals are processed on the last day of each month.

FINAL BILLING:  When a resident leaves the Home or passes away the final billing will be forwarded to the authorized representative in approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

Personal Trust Accounts

A personal trust account with pre-authorization for selected items is recommended.  Incidental costs incurred will be charged to this account on a monthly basis.  Personal trust funds are available for withdrawal by the resident weekdays between 12:00p.m and 4:00p.m.  The resident or their legal Power of Attorney must sign for all cash withdrawals and will receive a copy of the receipt.  Withdrawals greater than $100.00 will be issued by cheque.

A $2.00 monthly service charge is applied to each account.  Interest is paid monthly based on the minimum monthly account balance and bank rates as determined under a negotiated agreement with the Home’s bank.
