F.J. Davey Home Strategic Plan
for 2009 to 2014

 Who We Are

The F.J. Davey Home is a not-for-profit charitable Nursing Home in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Our state of the art facility opened in 2004 and provides 374 long term care beds to approved applicants.  We are operated by a volunteer Board of Directors licensed by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and operate under a service agreement with the North East Local Health Integration Network.

In addition to the facility-based services provided to our residents, the F.J. Davey Home operates two community support programs - Meals-on-Wheels and Alzheimer’s Day Away - through a separate agreement with the North East Local Health Integration Network.

The F.J. Davey Home is a long term member of the Ontario Association of Non-profit Homes and Services for Seniors (OANHSS) and has voluntarily become accredited with Accreditation Canada.  Locally, we are a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce.

We primarily serve that population requiring long term care services, including accommodation, nursing, social, spiritual, activities of daily living and psychological support.

Other stakeholders of the F.J. Davey Home include our staff, volunteers, families, resident representatives and community partners.

Mission, Vision and Values

Our Mission

As a leader in Long Term Care, we advocate a continuum of care that include programs and services for our residents as well as selected nutritional support and respite services to approved clients in the community.

We are committed to building partnerships and alliances that will assist us in our quest for excellence in the delivery of Long Term Care.

Our Vision

We provide choices for our residents for living life to the fullest.

Our Values

Resident-Centred Care
We recognize and value a social model as a framework for resident-centred living.  This is demonstrated by providing a safe and homelike environment that focuses on the spiritual, psychological, cultural and physical needs of residents while maximizing independence and choice, and fosters and supports the involvement of families.

Dignity and Respect
We acknowledge the rights and responsibilities of all persons and we treat each individual with dignity and respect.

Teamwork
We encourage the contributions of staff, residents, volunteers, families, resident representatives and community partners through collaborative processes that value honesty, openness and fairness.

Workplace Safety Culture
We endeavour to provide and promote a culture of workplace safety.

Accountability
We believe that we are accountable to residents, families, staff and the public for the achievement of our mission.  Accountability is demonstrated through the provision of the best quality care within the resources available in the pursuit of excellence.
